The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood, and release toxins from the muscles. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. Your therapist may utilize their hands, forearms and/or elbows to manipulate the superficial layers of the muscles to improve mental and physical health.

Traditional Swedish Massage with Sinus Relief. Massaging the sinuses is thought to help sinus pain and congestion by relieving pressure and helping the sinus drain out mucus. The gentle pressure and warmth from the hands may also help by increasing blood circulation to the area by simulating the lymphatic system to filter out the body's toxins and waste through lymph vessels. It also circulates infection-fighting white blood cells, encouraging a more resilient immune response.
Traditional Swedish Massage with Head/Scalp added on for 15 minutes to your massage. A scalp massage is a head massage designed to relax the mind and encourage circulation. Many times, tension is felt within the head and neck, so scalp massages can be very effective as a stress reducer. Cupping Therapy uses suction to access the deeper layers of the muscle and fascia. The pressure within the cups creates a vacuum pulling the skin, fascia & muscle gently upwards, decreasing muscle tension as well as increasing blood flow. Cupping therapy can create temporary discoloration on the skin, due to the suction. These marks are a result of the suction and indicate the release of stagnant blood and toxins from the underlying tissues, and typically fade within a few days. Massage therapy, combined with cupping, significantly increases your circulation and decreases pain and tension.

Gua sha (pronouced "gwa-shah") is an East Asian healing technique, over 2000 years old. In this treatment, your massage therapist uses a small, smooth-edged tool to firmly stroke/scrape your skin in one direction. This technique can help improve blood flow and reduce inflammation. Gua sha is used to get this vital energy flowing again, in areas where it may be stagnated. The affect of scraping your skin with the smooth Gua Sha stone causes petechiae to appear on your skin, activating both your immune system and nervous system. This sets off a complex chain of events in your body, releasing chemicals that improve circulation, lessening toxins, reducing pain, and promoting healing in the area. It is often used to help treat chronic pain throughout the body.
